I've already written two posts about music, and I thought it was fun to do. That's why I was thinking of doing this kind of posts more regularly. And again, this post is also about music.
The title explains quite good why I love music. When I'm going through a tough time or when I'm upset, music is there. When I'm happy and just want a song to sing to, music is there for me. However I am feeling, no matter what time, what place, music is there to keep me company. That's what I think, is the most amazing part.
I have to say, I'm not quite the singer. Not at all, actually. If I start singing, you better not be near me, or you'll have a chance of becoming deaf. That's why I have respect for most of the singers. I say "most" because, there are just some people who I can't stand. That might be 'cause they're just not good, or they have this huge ego, which would drive me insane... You know what I mean?
With me it's not only one person or group I like, I don't like to listen to one person all the time. If you do that, you'll only end up being fed up by their music, and that's not what we want, is it? Now, with me, it all comes in phases. When I was younger, I liked the High School Musical films, and with like, I mean that I was obsessed. It seems quite crazy now and a bit over the top. But I was one of those thousands of girls who were in love with Zac Efron. I liked those films more for the songs than for the storyline, because that one was really cheesy, but hey what did you expect? It's a Disney-film.
Then, when I was about 13 or 14, I started to like Taylor Swift, Demi Lovato, Jason Derulo... I'm not really into Taylor anymore, but Demi is still my favorite. I think I told you that so many times before, so I'm sorry if I'm annoying you right now, I'm not doing it on purpose. After that phase, Pink, Beyonce, Lady Gaga came around. They are great singers and I still think they're really good. Anyway, then came The Script, Bruno Mars of course One Direction and Little Mix.
As I said earlier, I don't listen to only one artist at the time. Throughout those phases, I listened to others as well. It's fun to have more singers or groups you like, so you can choose what you listen to, which comes very handy.
I do have favorites every week, and I'll share them with you right now.
First up we have One Direction's new single Story of my life. The song is the second single from their new album Midnight Memories which will be released on November 25th. It was released only four hours ago, and I just can't believe how perfect it is. I'm not saying this because I'm a Directioner (or maybe I am, just a bit), but it really is good. It's totally different than the songs on their previous albums, but it's a good difference. So, it might be great if you'd go and check it out.
Then we have Little Mix's new song Move. The musicvideo came out today, and it's all too much to handle. Just kidding, but it is really fun. So it's the first single from their second album which is called Salute and will be released on the 11th of November.
And also Jason Derulo's Marry Me is a song I can appreciate these days. It's from his latest album Tattoos. I always have been a fan of Jason Derulo, although he's not the best singer. But his songs are just really good and catchy, and isn't that one of the most important things that makes a song good?
So, that was a bit more about my opinion about music and my favorite songs at the moment . I hope you liked it, and if you want me to do more posts like these, let me know.
You might
know I’m really into the whole photography thing. And for those who might know a
little about photography, I’m going to tell you what I use to take all my
photos. My main device is a Canon EOS 400D with the kit lens Canon EF-S 18-55.
I have a second lens to combine that one, and that’s a fixed focal EF 28mm
2.8. Actually I’m a really simple person and I still like to use my Canon
pocket camera. I have this really cool retro bag to put my devices in.
My dad has now 4 cameras! Since I was a baby, he walked around the house and took photos of literally everything. And that’s how I got into photography. My dad bought me my first camera when I was about 11 years old. He’s really talented and he learned me how to work with it.
I already mentioned this in my previous post, but I think it’s so important to take plenty photos. When I look back at my old photos, I have a lot of good memories. I went to Thailand this summer and I’m so happy my dad and I made about 3000 (!) photos. Here are a few.
These are a few photos I took of random objects around my house. Don’t get me wrong, I love taking pictures of people, but I think I’m not that good at it. I’m afraid people don’t like my photos. I still need a lot of practise and patience. The only thing I have to do now is make time to take photos.
So I hope you enjoyed the photos. And I'll see you next time. ♥
A little while ago, me and Marlies were invited to go to a sweet 16 birthday party, and of course we went to the party? But, there was one special thing, there was a theme, which was Teletubbie. It was kind of weird to be at a party for a girl who just turned 16, and to be dressed as Teletubbies, but it wasn't that bad, because everybody did a good job at creating their costume. And that was great!
This is Marlies and I, in our beautiful costumes. You can see that the televisonscreens Teletubbies have, aren't on the same height on our suits, but that's because we finished them alone. As you can see, Marlies also made a pair of giant ears.
Here we are together with the birthdaygirl, Rune. She was dressed as the green one, Dipsy. It was a really, really good suit. She even had, like, the massive belly and everyhting!
Here are all the guests together, all dressed up as one of the Teletubbies. We even had a Noo Noo, it was amazing. Literally everybody made a huge effort to look great and have awesome costumes. It might sound stupid, that when you throw a sweet 16 party, the theme is Teletubbies, but when you see everybody like this, it's just amazing.
It really was a fun night, and we had a really great time. We talked, laughed (a lot), did some fun things, played a few rounds of truth or dare, which was pretty hilarious! Hopefully, the party Gwendolyne and I are going to throw for our Birthday/Halloween is going to be as much fun as this one.
So today, we're finally going to properly introduce ourselves. We had some technical issues with the video we made, that's why it took so long and we are extremely sorry for that. Anyway, it is finished now. We know we said that we were going to introduce us, but unfortunatly, Marlies is not in it, but she wrote a post a while ago which you can read here. So it's just Gwendolyne and me, Phara.
We hope you like it, and that we're not THAT annoying.
So, thank you for watching and we'll see you next time!
So today I wanted to give
you guys some advice on how to take care of your hair. Especially when you have
long hair, it's an important thing to keep it beautiful and healthy.
Try to find a good shampoo
for your hair, therefor you have to know the type of your hair. Do you have
greasy hair, dry hair,… ?
Do you colour you hair, or is it your natural colour? These things can be
important to buy a good shampoo for your hair.
(note: don’t always believe everything shampoo-commercials try to sell you, a
cheap shampoo from your local supermarket can be as good as an expensive one,
or even better)
How often? You should know that it is
not necessary to wash your hair every day, about three or four times a week is
enough. It’s also a matter of personal preference, I wash my hair once in two days.
How do you wash your
hair? It seems like a very simple
task for most people, but you can still be doing it wrong without knowing. I’ll
give you some steps on how to wash your hair the way it should be washed to
keep it healthy and beautiful.
The only thing you’ll be
needing are a good shampoo and conditioner. Start off by untangling
your hair and massaging it with the paths of your fingers to loosen dirt and dead
skin. Did you know that doing this can also approve your hair growth. Gel and
hairspray can do the exact opposite.
1)Shampooing
Shampoo is meant to clean
the hair and scalp. Without shampooing, dirt and the use of other hair products
(such as spray,…) can build up over time and cause a greasy look and even irritations. So it’s very important to
do it right. A good thing to start with is off course rinsing your hair with
medium heated water. Then take a small amount of shampoo in your palm, don’t exaggerate.
Massage the shampoo into your scalp by using clawed fingers. Make sure you do this everywhere.
When you’re ready, completely rinse your hair. This is very important to get
clean hair. Not rinsing it out enough may leave a greasy look. If you choose
so, you can do this twice to get even cleaner hair.
2)Conditioning
Before conditioning, you
can comb your hair with a comb or by using your fingers. Then you can take an
amount of conditioner, it depends on the length or the dryness of your hair. Run
the conditioner through the middle and on the tips. You can also choose to
condition some of your scalp if you like. Leave it on for a few minutes then
rinse it really well until you’re certain that there’s nothing left.
Did you know: When you rinse your hair with icy cold water, it’ll give your
hair a shine. Not only that, it'll also help keep your hair healthy.
You can dry your hair with
a towel by patting your hair into the towel. Don’t rub it in! Also try not to
use blow dryers as they can seriously damage your hair. Only use them when it’s
really needed.
So I hope this was helpful for
some of you out here
And we’ll see you next time!
The last couple of days I've noticed that there's always the same song stuck in my head. So I thought it would be nice to share that song with you, along with other songs I like at the moment.
The first song I can't get out of my head is called If I die yong by The band Perry. I had heard of it before, but didn't listen to it for a while. But last week, there was a new episode of Glee, and Santana, one of the characters, sang this song. Remembering how good this song was, I searched it again on Youtube, and now I'm listening to it non-stop.
Other songs I like right now are Roar by Katy Perry, One Direction's Summer Love, Demi Lovato her song called Neon Lights, Wings by Little Mix, and also Talk Dirty, a song of Jason Derulo and of course Wrecking Ball by Miley Cyrus is still one of my favorites.
So, why not go check out these songs? This was it for today. Maybe I'll do one like this again another time.
The days are filled with rain, high temperatures are gone, it's time for warm clothing, leafs aren't on the branches of trees anymore, but are lying on the ground. With other words, Autumn has come. I'm probably one of those crazy persons who like Autumn, or Fall, however you call it, more than Summer or Spring. The idea of watching a film underneath a soft blanket with a cup of hot chocolat while it's cold outside, is just more attempting for me, than Summer will ever be. (That rymed, I'm a poet, and I don't even know it! God, that rymed again, I'm so good. Am not.)
I know, a lot of you must be thinking now that I'm probably losing it, but Autumn has its charme. It's lovely to go walking when there's a layer of leafs underneath your feet. So why don't go for a walk in a forest near you. If you're more the adventurous type, and you don't like the leafs to just be beneath your feet, then just jump into a pile of leafs. You will be surrounded by leafs and feel the love radiating of off them. Too much? Yeah, I thought so too. Anyway in Autumn, it's time to celebrate Halloween, which is really fun (and scary) to do. That's exactly why Gwendolyne and I are throwing a party! You can also bake some apple pie, or pumpkin pie, to stay in the Halloween-theme. And of course, eat it! Why not learn to knit? It's cold in Autumn and you need sweaters anyway, so why don't make them yourself? Start christmas shopping! It's never to early to start getting presents for the ones you love, and that gives you an excuse to go shopping too.
You see, Autumn is awesome! You just have to appreciate and respect it. Go do some fun things with your friends or family, and you're going to have a great time.
I hope I could get you a little bit more excited about the thought of Autumn!
My name is Gwendolyne, I'm 16 years
old and I’m also from Belgium. I’m living with my parents, two sisters, my
brother and a few cats (They’re adorable). If someone asked me to describe
myself in one word, it’ll just be ‘Gwendolyne’. My name says enough for some
people, I guess.
How I spend my time depends on the moment.
Schoolwork usually comes first, then I’ll try to do stuff I like better such as
drawing, writing, hanging out with friends, listening to music and especially being
with my lovely boyfriend which I love so much, I can’t even describe it!
I have a few weird addictions and rare habits.
Like this one: I’m addicted to leek soup, I know right… So every time I get home
from school at about 4.30pm, I have to have a cup of this soup. I’m extremely small
and I’ll try to do anything to look taller. That’s why I’d wear heels no matter
when, no matter where. Another odd thing I do is obsessively prepare myself for
anything that may happen in the future. So if something doesn’t go the way I
planned or they change at the last minute, I freak out. I’m not a stressful
person, only in these situations I could die of stress. I also have this
bizarre behaviour where I desperately try to find an answer on anything that has
happened or happens on the moment. It’s just my mind torturing my… so it’s a
bad thing. I’m also a believer of paranormal things like ghosts and stuff and I’m
pretty sure we’re actually all Martians (think about it, it's possible).
When I was a baby, I refused to eat meat. So
I’ve been a vegetarian ever since I can remember.Above that I’m lactose intolerant, but I only
discovered that two years ago. Luckily I’m fond of vegetables and fruits.
Except for the allergy and vegi thing, I’ll eat anything. I love food!
I'm trying to be unique in this big bad world,
I want to stand out from the crowd in a good way. That is why I don’t really go with the
flow, like they say. I mostly have other tastes and interests than most of the
people. I know what you’re thinking, she’s insane… but that’s kind of who I am
and I’m proud of that.
So the day before yesterday, you got to know our newest member. But then Gwendolyne and I thought it was a bit weird that we hadn't introduced ourselves. Although, there's coming a video where we talk about ourselves, like a lot, we're going to write a bit about us today, too.
I'm going to start, so my name is Phara, I'm an 16 year old girl and I live in Izegem, a city in a little country, Belgium. I have a sister, called Semma. As you can see, our names are a bit weird, but I quite like them, if I'm allowed to say that. Most of my time I spend in school, it's not that I hate school, but I don't really like it either, if you know what I mean. In my spare time, I like to do different things, such as writing, reading, watching films or listening to music, blogging of course, stuff like that. My favorite hobby is playing theatre, it's my ninth year already, and next year, it'll be my last. Also the sports tennis and swimming are on the list of favorite things to do.
I'm a person who likes to help people, trying to listen to someone who needs it. I'm doing my best to be as friendly as I can, but I don't always succeed. It's quite hard, actually. I know I can be impatient some times, but I'm working on that too.
My favorite subject in school is English, also I'm not that good at it, but it's fun. My favorite country is also England, everything about it is just awesome. I love the accents, the culture, the shops (of course), just everything. I sometimes imagine myself living there, but I don't know if that's going to happen. Fingers crossed, I guess.
I already published a post about my favorite music, so you already know that I'm a Directioner and Lovatic for life.
So this was a little bit about me, you'll hear eveything else you need to know about me, in a video that's coming soon.
Yes, you just read it!Friendo's On A Mission has a new member! I’m also new on Blogger,
so I don’t really know what to write here but I’ll try my very best! I have Tumblr
so I think that’s a bit the same, except for the writing and speaking part. So it’s actually totally something different... okay never mind. Phara and Gwendolyne made a
video this afternoon introducing themselves but I’m not in it. But Phara and me
made a video yesterday, which we’ll post later.
I will introduce myself now. My name is Marlies. I was born on the 20th
of November 1997 and since then I live in a little country called Belgium. I
have one brother, Jeroen. He’s two years older than me, so he's just started his
first year of university. He is not only my brother, he’s also my best friend. I
have two cats Nora and Nina and they’re adorable! I love them so much. I don’t
have a lot of hobby’s anymore, but I used to dance. I did ballet for 9 years. I
combined ballet with a lot of other dance styles, just like street dance, tap-dance,
disco-freestyle, jazz,… You might think I’m very flexible now…but I’m not, even
after 9 years I couldn’t do a split.
If there’s one thing I can’t live
without that would be the VKSJ. It’s a youth movement and if you don’t know
what that is, I will explain it right now. Every Saturday afternoon we get
together with our group and do games or activities. It’s so much fun and I made
so many good friends there. This a group photo we made last week. This Saturday
we’re going to decorate our own room. So we did a photo-shoot to have pictures
we can hang out.
Go follow me on my twitter: https://twitter.com/Butera_Marlies. I’m a huge fan of One Direction and Ariana Grande. But I might make
another post about that. I tweet a lot about my personal life, but I love to
respond to my idols.
I really love taking pictures with my DSLR, I’m not very good at it but
I practice a lot with it. I think it’s
so important to take a lot of pictures when you’re young. You don’t have to
take me seriously all the time, but I’m very serious with this one! In 10 years
from now, you’ll be so thankful you took those pictures.
I think this is going to be it.
We'll see you next time!
Every Friday, after school, I have this habit of watching an episode or two from my favorite series. And I thought it would be a good idea to share those shows with you. At the moment it's the show Glee I'm obsessed with. Glee is about a high school in the US, more specific, the William McKinley High School in Lima, Ohio. The series is all about the gleeclub, called the New Directions. Each member of the New Directions struggles with certain things in life, such as sexuality, relationships, social issues etc. Every episode is focused on one of those difficulties everyone can experience in life. And that's what I like about Glee.
The gleeclub competes on the show choir competition circuit, while figuring out how to be an effective team. But that was all in season 1. Things have changed during the seasons. Now, the first stars of gleeclub have graduated and are in New York, trying to chase their dreams. Back in McKinley High, Mr. Schuester is still running gleeclub and recruiting new members.
Glee castmembers during season 1
Glee castmember during season 4
It recently started again, airing their fifth season. They started it off with two The Beatles-episodes, which were really good. There are a lot of guest-stars this season, like Demi Lovato (another reason why I like watching Glee), Adam Lambert and others.
They often dedicate an episode to a singer. They've done a Michael Jackson episode, also about Britney Spears, an episode about Whitney Houston, when she passed away. This season started with The Beatles, which I mentioned earlier. And next week, they're going to say goodbye to Cory Monteith, the actor/singer who played one of the most important characters of the show; Finn Hudson. He sadly passed away last summer.
I think Glee is a recommend. Except, if you don't like people who start singing at random moments, then you could get annoyed real quick.
This is one of Bob Marley’s famous music
quotes on which I couldn’t agree more. In my opinion music is a complex thing.
There’re so many different genres, instruments and voices that can bring us beautiful
music. Because of these many choices, everybody has his or her own taste in
music.
Mine is quite variant. I’m into a lot of
different music genres, not one in particular. My door is always open for new
music as well. If I’d had to make a list with all my favourite bands and
singers, it would be a very long one. There are just so many good artists out
there. The internet is a great tool for me to discover all those artists and
listen to their inspiring music.
Now I will tell you some of my favourite
artists and songs at the moment, if you like. I can’t say I’m into one genre,
such as pop or rock, I’m actually into quite a few genres including those.
Artists like Bastille, Linkin Park, Evanescence, Imagine Dragons, OneRepublic, Mumford and
Sons, Plumb, Panic! At the Disco, Fall Out Boy, Paramore, and so on… The only
thing I think they would have in common (as far as I know) is that they don’t
really make typical music. Wherever I hear one of their songs, I will recognise
it instantly. I like that. Another thing I like is that there’s always a
meaning behind the lyrics of the song. That’s music for me.
My favourite songs at the moment:
Bastille
Bastille and Ella covered this song ‘No
Scrubs’ (originally by TLC) I’m obsessed with his version.
This is one of the songs on Birdy’s debut album
called ‘Shelter’ (originally by The xx). I heard this song somewhere in the
background of a series (can’t remember which one it was).
Goodnight Argent is a band I discovered on
Youtube a few months ago and I just love their music. Especially with this song:
And I'll stop here for now :) So I hope you liked it!
