"I know girls..."

Hello everyone

Today, I came across a lovely song that has so much meaning, such a beautiful message behind it, and I just wanted to share it with you guys. Maybe you've already heard of it, but anyway.

This song is called I know girls (bodylove), and is sung by Mary Lambert, a 23-year-old singer. If I say that she's had a tough time growing up and didn't have the easiest childhood, that would be an understatement. She was abused when she was a child, and to describe herself she said: "Ending up being a depressed eight-year-old." For many years, Mary Lambert struggled with her sexuality, although she came out as a lesbian when she was 17.

You may know her as the singer and songwriter of Macklemore and Ryan Lewis' song Same Love, a song about gay rights.  The song I know girls isn't about that topic though, it's about hating yourself, hurting yourself, not feeling pretty, not feeling good enough... And I think everybody feels that way some times. Feeling that nobody loves you, that you're not wanted. And I'll admit it, I do feel like that some times. I don't want to be pathetic, and believe me, I'm not screaming for attention here. But just think about it, don't you feel like that now and then?

I'm going to leave you with this, and Mary Lambert's live performance of the song. I hope you'll understand why I love it that much. And remember, you all are perfect the way you are. Don't change for somebody else, please don't hurt yourself anylonger, just be you, be happy, feel pretty because you ARE pretty. I know it's easy to say, but I'm just telling you the truth. Stay strong.

"Music is the strongest form of magic."

Hello hello, my dearest readers!

I thought it would be a good time to let you know my favorite music at the moment, once again. A couple of weeks have passed since the last time I made a post like this and a lot of music has been released. There were, of course, songs that have been waiting for me to discover, which I did in the past days, weeks, month... Not really sure.

Now first, the new album of the girlgroup Little Mix came out this week. Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay! That quite shows how happy I am, that there's finally new music from them. So yeah... sorry about that. Anyway, Gwendolyne actually listened to it before me, and she recommended me the song Towers. And, I mean, it's just simply amazing. I can't really put my finger on what it is, that makes the song good, but it just is THAT good. This might be my favorite one of all the songs of Little Mix, although it's really hard to choose. So, follow my advice, and go listen to it!

The next one's Beautiful Life by Union J. I've listened to this song once when it came out, but I wasn't really fond of it. But Gwen kind of made me listen to it another time, and this time I found it so much better! I guess it's just one of those songs you've got to listen to more than one time to actually appreciate the song, and now I do. I didn't know that much about Union J, so I scrolled through their Wikipedia page. (I'm such a stalker, I know). So I found out they were also on the show The X Factor UK. Guess that I like the contestants of that show :D Now whatsoever, just listen to the song, and you'll know what I mean. Unless, just like me, you've got to listen to it multiple times to like it. Let me know...

The last song I want to tell you about, is a single of  Gavin DeGraw, called Soldier. I don't know if Gavin DeGraw is actually popular where you live, but here, in Belgium he's not really famous. But the TV-series One Tree Hill was shown on Belgian television, and as you may know, his song I don't want to be was the theme song for that show. That's how I've met his music. The song Soldier though, is much more recent, although it came out almost a year ago. I listened to it then, like a lot, and I still do now. I love his voice, the reason behind the lyrics, and also that he's a very good live performer. So yeah, ladies and gentlemen: Gavin DeGraw!

Also listen to this live performance of the song, it's incredible!

So, this was it for the music-thingy, I hope you like it and...
We'll see you next time!

My X-Factor UK Finalists!

Hi guys!

Have you been watching The X-Factor UK this year? People living in the UK probably have. When you have, you certainly have got your own favourites you’d like to see in the finale, just like I do. Or maybe even your one and only winner of the X-Factor 2013?

My tiny little problem is that I really can’t choose one winner. I happen to have two favourites, each from different categories. Their names are Sam Bailey and Nicholas McDonalds.
Sam Bailey, her name says enough to me. Her voice is incredible! Each week she comes back and she raises the bar so high, for herself and the other contestants. She has never been in the bottom two and here’s the reason:

Nicholas McDonalds… he’s just so… good. He’s only sixteen years old, as Sharon repeats a lot, but his voice says otherwise to me. He has a very powerful voice in my opinion. He also seems to be a really nice guy. Plus, he’s kind of cute too and don’t even get started on his adorable Scottish accent… In the Xtra Factor footage, he appears to be very funny and he looks like a likeable guy. I guess he gets along with all the other contestants as well.

So these two awesome and really good artists and contestants of this years X-Factor UK are my absolute favourites. But there are a lot of other great performers in the competition this year with all their own unique voices.

It's a shame I can't vote here in Belgium, so people please vote for the right ones who deserve to win! Thank you :)

We'll see you next time!

New series to watch!

Hello everyone!!

As you might know the well-known episodes of Pretty Little Liars is paused for some time. I love that series so much and I was really devastated and I didn't know what to do with my life when it stopped (I can exaggerate sometimes). Pretty Little Liars just stopped for a while until the 7th of January 2014. The Halloween special is called 'Crave New World'. If I can give you one advice: don't watch it alone in the dark, like I did. It can be really creepy. I'm not going to explain what the series is about, I'm just going to talk about the last episode and the exciting spin-off.

In the Halloween-special the girls looked for Ali in Ravenswood. This is what I found on Wikipedia:
"Aria, Emily, Hanna and Spencer crash the Ravenswood Founders Day Celebration after finding a clue in "A's" new lair that Ali may indeed be alive. Dressed in their finest Edwardian wear, the ladies hit the creepy cemetery party to find Ali before "A" can. But if Ali is truly alive, could the PLLs be leading "A" straight to their friend without knowing it? With Ezra lurking in the shadows, "A" may be closer than the girls realize. When Ezra drops the girls off, they see Red Coat. They follow her. They say, "Alison?" and then Red Coat takes off her hoodie and it's revealed to be Alison. She asks the girls if they missed her and says it still isn't safe for her to return to Rosewood and tells Hanna to remember what she told her in the hospital. So it's revealed that at one point when Allison individually visited them, she was actually there and not in their dreams. She runs off after hearing footsteps, which are Ezra's, returning and telling Aria that she forgot her phone in his car."

So that's basically all you need to know about that last episode. Caleb met Miranda on the bus and they got to know each other. Miranda is an orphan, just like Caleb.

After the Halloween-special of Pll the spin-off started. It’s called ‘Ravenswood’. Yesterday I watched the two first episodes and I like it so much. I don’t know how they do it, but I think it’s even more terrifying than Pretty Little Liars. There’s a curse over the whole town and Caleb and Miranda stay in a haunted house. I’m not going to spoil the two episodes now, that wouldn’t be cool. If you liked Pretty Little Liars then you are really going to enjoy Ravenswood. So please, if you watch it, tell me what you think of it.

Hope we’ll see you next time!

Get to know this Artist #1: Plumb

 Hi guys!

Today I want you to get to know a really good artist called Plumb. Maybe this name is familiar to you, maybe not... probably not. It depends where you live, I guess. Anyway, in my opinion this artist is just too great. This post is for those who never heard of her before.

‘Plumb’ is the stage name Tiffany Arbuckle Lee gave herself. She started in a band which she was in for a few years. In 2000 she wanted to leave the music industry but a letter from a fan changed her mind and inspired her to continue as a solo artist.

The first time I heard one of her songs, it was on the background of an episode of The Vampire Diaries, I immediately loved her voice so much. After searching for more songs of her, I completely fell in love with her music; I became a fan.
This song was used in TVD:

Every song she writes has a meaning. The lyrics are all inspired by different things she or other people went through. Her newest album was renamed from ‘Faster than a Bullet’ to ‘Need You Know’ in honour of the victims and families of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting for example. This makes this artist so special to me and to a lot of people out there. She creates real music.
One of the songs on the newest album called 'I Want You Here'

The lyrics are sometimes Christian-related. Here in Belgium we’re not that Christian like in the US or other countries. But for some kind of reason I even like those songs too, because once again, there’s a meaning behind every single word.

Many different genres are to find as well, such as alternative rock, dance, electronica, pop, soft rock, and so on. Compare these songs and you’ll know what I’m trying to say here.

One of the songs she performed while still being in the band. I prefer the solo-songs.

A beautiful song from the album ‘Chaotic’ called 'Bittersweet'

‘Blink’ a whole other genre

This song makes me feel so happy and in love

She has so many beautiful songs and so different from one another, which makes it easier for me to listen to this music over and over again the whole day long. You can’t say this with all artists.

So I hope you enjoyed this first get to know the artist post and you liked the music. If you want to hear more from Plumb go check out her official channel on Youtube.

We’ll see you next time!

Typical Belgium

Hi guys!

The most of you probably already know this, but the three of us live in Belgium. A little country in Europe. You may or may not know a bit, or even quite a bit, about it. Either way, here are some typical Belgian things.

Now, first of: French fries. This one is killing me, okeay? Let's just say, fries were not invented by the French, but found its origine in our minuscule country. Then why call them French fries? I don't know. I have absolutely no idea. Just call them Belgian fries. Thank you! :D

Rainy days. We have quite some days when it can't stop raining. In fact, it's raining at the moment! Speaking of coincidence! Anyway, let's say 250 out of 365 days, are filled with rain. But for me, rain isn't  that bad, I find it quite cozay, actually. Yeah, I have to admit, I like it a lot less when I have to go through it. So, some mixed feelings there.

Then we have, of course, chocolate. God, I love chocolate. Too bad M&M's weren't invented by some Belgian people, I would love my country so much more. :D

Weird statues. Yup, that would be Belgium. In Brussels we have the Atomium. Just nine balls, up in the air. Or Manneke Pis, which would be Boy Pee or something like that, in English. But hey, a lot of people seem to like those amazing works of art, so I've got no problems with it.

Apparently, we like food. Although, I don't perticulary like this one. Brussels sprouts, nobody really likes them, but they're famous anyway. They're not that bad, but they never were my favorite kind of food, they aren't right now, and they probably will never be.

More food! These Luikse wafels also known as Gaufre de Liège or sugar waffles, are the best waffles in the entire world. They are filled with little pieces of sugar, which makes it even more delicious.

That was a little bit more about the tiny country we live in.
We'll see you next time!

Current Addictions

Hello guys!

It has been a bit quiet, these past days. With school and everything, it's really busy, but we're trying our best to keep the blog updated.
However, back to what I wanted to tell you: my current addictions. And no, with addictions I don't mean drugs, alcohol, or any of those kinds. More like hings I have found myself eating, watching, reading... a lot, the past days.

The first one definitely is M&M's. I always loved them, and it's something I can eat anywhere, anytime. But lately... Let's just say, it's quite bad. I'm eating them non-stop. I know they're not healthy or anything, far from it, actually. But, they're just sooooo good, you know?

I don't have much to say about this one. It's the music video for One Direction's single Story of my life and it's just perfect. End of story.

This one is something I really like these days: Wattpad. Wattpad.com is a site where you can write your own stories and publish them, so others can read them. If you're not quite the writer, but more the reader, no worries. There are enough stories for you to discover. You can find thousands of stories divided into different categories. It goes from romance to spiritual, from science-fiction to poetry, and so on. You also can read fan-fiction, which are stories with your favorite artists or actors in it. And I have to admit, I have read some One Direction fan-fiction. Don't shoot me, please.

And the last one: So You Think You Can Dance. It's not the American version, but the Belgian one. Which is also with candidats from the Netherlands. I love watching SYTYCD and I admire the dancers on the show. I have quite some respect for them, although I don't understand how they can get their bodies in all those weird positions. You may or may not know, that I'm not a good dancer. Actually, a quite bad one, but I think it's fun to watch people dance.

So that was it for today!
We'll see you next time!

Our Halloween Party Decoration

Hello everyone

As you know, we were going to throw a Halloween party, but that takes a lot of work.

Wednesday, the day before, we started to clean the room where the party would take place. It was in the daycare of my mom, so there were a lot of toys, drawings and other stuff that had to be replaced by Halloween items we bought or made ourselves to use as decoration.

How it always looks

So this room completly changed! The whole place was decorated for Halloween.
This was some kind of ritual scene with one hell of a scary doll.
Even the hall was decorated
This baby doll looks like a little ghostchild to me... who lost his eye.
A mysterious frame from some of the guest...

The lights were covered with black spiderwebs

Little ghost I created. I'm a proud mommy :)

This is a magnificant painting that my sister made!

An old family photo I found and recreated just little bit...
Porcelain dolls couldn't be missed! This was much scarier when it was dark outside, believe me.

So this is how the place was decorated. We put a lot of work to do all this and it was only the decoration here. We also had to choose music, themed food, costumes and so on! Check it out here.

We'll see you next time!
